Chrome-plated hot rollers used in the plastics industry typically require heat treatment in order to remove entrapped hydrogen in the chrome deposit. If this process is not carried out or carried out correctly, the hydrogen can diffuse through the chromium, causing defects in the form of tiny bubbles in the plastic sheets / films.
The rollers are heated using a highly accurate thermal ramp, recording the temperature profile data. During heat treatment, the rollers are supported in a vertical position in order to eliminate any risk of distortion.
